Slipknot Unveil Latest Picture

Slipknot have posted yet another bizarre new image on the front page of their official website.

The latest image has the masked figure we’ve seen in previous pictures ankle deep in water and walking through a darkened tunnel. The soundtrack in the background starts softly with the sound of water and what appears to be clanging pipes that gradually gets louder before stopping abruptly as it reaches its crescendo.

Slipknot are expected to release their new album in August.

The Scarlett Johansson Album!

t’s here! The album we’ve been waiting for, breathlessly, all this time. Yes, I’m talking about Scarlett Johansson’s Anywhere I Lay My Head, due out May 20 on Atco. And wait-what’s this? It’s not just ten Tom Waits covers? There’s also an original track? Oh man!

Update: Apparently Stars Like Fleas drummer Ryan Sawyer also appears on the album.

As previously reported, ScarJo collaborated with TV on the Radio’s David Sitek, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Nick Zinner, and Celebration’s Sean Antanaitis on the album.

Album of the year, baby.

Nine Inch Nails Plan Pre-Sale, Personalized Tickets for Upcoming Tour

Hoping to prevent scalpers from profiting off their upcoming tour — and to ensure the true fans get front row — Nine Inch Nails will offer their fans a limited allotment of best available seating before the tickets go on sale to the general public. NIN will begin selling those tickets at their official website seventy-two hours before the official on-sale date. To further stonewall those scheming scalpers and ticket brokers, each ticket is imprinted with the purchasers’ name, and can only be acquired the day of the show at the will-call window with an ID that matches the name of the ticket. Then, upon receiving the tickets, the person whose name is inscribed on the ticket must immediately enter the venue, making it impossible to run back to the parking lot and sell it to some buyer from CraigsList. Pre-sales are expected to begin Wednesday with the band’s Lexington, Kentucky, show. And remember, we’re less than a week away from the big announcement Trent Reznor has been teasing over at his website.

LORDI Begins Recording New Album

Finnish monster rock n’ roll band LORDI has entered the studio to record the follow-up to “The Arockalypse”.

Commented the group: “We don’t wanna record ‘The Arockalypse Part 2′, but we won’t forget our roots either.”

The band chose from over 60 songs to record. “It’s the same positive problem as always,” laughs guitarist Amen. “Oh yeah, 60 demos is a lot to listen to, but at the same time it’s a lot of fun. All the band members took part in the writing process and that was very positive too.”

This is the first time bassist Ox and keyboardist Lady Awa will be in the studio at the start of a recording.

“I’m so excited! I just can’t wait to hear the final results. The new songs kick ass so hard! I honestly think that this is gonna be the best LORDI album,” says a thrilled Ox.

Lady Awa is enthusiastic about the new album too. “I joined the band at the time when LORDI was recording ‘The Arockalypse’ album, so I had to go straight to the studio and I didn’t have much time to get to know the new songs,” Awa says. “Now I’ve had a couple of years — such a joyride — and I have had time to ‘get in’ into the band. So now I’m even more excited about making the new album, choosing and practicing the songs. I have even tried to compose a little bit by myself.”

The recordings should be finished by summer, with the new album due out later this year.

In other news, The End Records has set a May 13 release date for the reissue of LORDI’s 2002 debut album “Get Heavy”. The reissue comes with the exclusive bonus track “Don’t Let My Mother Know”.

BLACK TIDE: New Video Interview Available

Former Rip magazine editor Lonn Friend recently talked to Miami’s BLACK TIDE about the band’s experiences on the road and last year’s Ozzfest. Watch the four-minute chat below.

BLACK TIDE sold 11,400 copies of its debut album, “Light from Above”, in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 73 on The Billboard 200 chart.

After months of anticipation, BLACK TIDE has finally unveiled the video for its blazing single “Shockwave”. The Travis Kopach-directed (BUCKCHERRY, PANIC! AT THE DISCO) clip finds the group turning a non-descript suburban home into a frenzy of moshing fans and skateboarders pulling tricks on a half-pipe! The motocross bad boys of the Metal Mulisha also make an appearance making this video a throwback to the glory days of ’80s metal!

“Light from Above” was released on March 18 via Interscope Records. The CD was recorded with producer Johnny K, who has previously worked with DISTURBED, MACHINE HEAD and SOIL, among others.
